Better Health Program runs for 10 weeks during school terms. It includes healthy eating advice, physical activity for kids, support for parents, helpful resources, and lots of fun games and activities.

The program has been designed by dietitians, psychologists and exercise professionals to help families with building practical skills and knowledge, leading to sustained behaviour change.

Program outcomes over the last 10 years have shown statistically significant improvements in BMI, self esteem, physical activity and eating habits amongst children who have completed the program.

Raising the issue of weight

Our Talking to parents about children’s weight online training provides helpful strategies to raise the issue of weight and conduct conversations in a nonjudgemental and supportive manner.

The training is free for health and community professionals in Western Australia, and can be purchased by health and community professionals in other states. Contact us for more information or register online talkingaboutweight.org

How to refer to the program

To be eligible for the program children need to be 7-13 years of age and above a healthy weight based on BMI for age percentile charts.

Referring a patient to the program is simple and can be the motivation a family needs to register. You can referral online using link below, download an interactive pdf form or order a referral pad.
